Those who have upgraded to EMR 9.8 or CPS 12 have done so most likely with the plans to attest for Meaningful Use Stage 2. Here we are, almost to the end of the year and many users are throwing their hands in the air. An article written in August by Healthcare IT News, has noted many meaningful users are falling short. They note “too few people really, truly grasp the magnitude of the changes compared to Stage 1.”
Another article, also written by Healthcare IT News notes, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives(CHIME) is calling for some flexibility to CMS and ONC.
“One of CHIME’s main requests is that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services allow providers to choose any three-month quarter for an EHR reporting period in the next federal fiscal year or calendar year to qualify for meaningful use in 2015 instead of reporting a full year of data to qualify for incentives, as the program requires.”
The question would be where will that leave those for 2014? Pleasantly pushing forward, falling short, or just giving up?
